Jordan seems to have the measure of him.
If the Danny Boyle film has anything it should approach the Pistols story with compassion and pathos.

Yeah, I remember its release but I never owned it.
It wasn't part of the Swindle but it was Cook and Jones.
Anyone know the story behind it?

It was from the Swindle sessions when McLaren was padding out the double album with anything he could get his hands on. From that session, Swindle, No One Is Innocent and Silly Thing made the cut, Black Leather didn't and came out (I think) as a single in 1980 with Here We Go Again on the flip. For all intents and purposes it was a Professionals record as Rotten had left and Sid was either incarcerated or dead.
Steve Jones would make a decent whack on royalties as it also turns up on Guns N Roses covers album The Spaghetti Incident.

I heard it once back then and never liked it.
The flip was a lot better.
By that point the constraints of the Pistols name were having an adverse effect on Cook and Jones I reckon.
You could hear and see the Professionals itching to get out.

"Black Leather" was written around the time Cook & Jones were hanging out with Joan Jett... i think they co-wrote it She also recorded a version of it. But hearing it again now, it just struck me that it's very close to this Stooges classic, in terms of it's 'groove'  |

And now it's going to court Sex Pistols members in High Court battle over use of band’s songs in Danny Boyle television drama
Johnny Rotten is being sued by two of his former Sex Pistols bandmates in a dispute over the use of the band’s songs.
A High Court judge is considering legal action by guitarist Steve Jones and drummer Paul Cook against Johnny, real name John Lydon.
They took legal action after he objected to Sex Pistols’ recordings being used in a television series called Pistol.
Steve and Paul want a judge to rule that Johnny must consent to licences being granted but he is fighting their claim.
Judge Murray Rosen, who is based in London, on Friday considered preliminary issues in the case at an online hearing.
Detail of the dispute was outlined in written legal arguments, produced by barristers representing all sides, given to the judge. A trial has yet to be staged.
Edmund Cullen QC, who is representing Steve and Paul, told the judge that the television series, directed by Danny Boyle and based on a memoir by Steve, was in production.
He said the series required licences in relation to the Sex Pistols’ recordings and compositions and, without such licences, could be cancelled.
