All of that is fair enough but do you really think it merits a movie?
I think there's a danger of fiction overtaking fact when it comes to these projects and myth overtaking reality.
The Pistols are just a cash cow. How many different 'realities' have we been subjected to now?

...they are not making a movie about Wally Nightingale, R.P. - there is a book coming out though (i was responding to Stu77's post)... but yeah, the story of the Pistols when Lydon joined onwards has been told so many times, it does beg the question, do we really need it told again? ...and if we do, is it going to be an anyway accurate or worthy or a complete farce?

Alex Cox has always been a helmet Tha's how he came across. I was impressed by Gary Oldman though, he made sure to check that the stunt man was ok after he'd whacked him with his bass

Cox was great on Movidrome for those that can remember that far back
Here he is introducing The Wicker Man in the very first episode from 1988....

I have quite a few Cult films i recorded off the telly on old VHS's, that Alex Cox does the introductions for, e.g. 'Girl On A Motorbike' and he is very good. Which makes it all the more painful, that Sid & Nancy is so naff in places. Lydon was right to be angry and mortified by that.

He's great at talking about cult films, less good at making them Repo Man was wonderful but it was downhill all the way after that. The Pogues/Strummer etc spaghetti western is every bit as bad as Sid and Nancy, though I bet they had a blast making it That said, that first series of Moviedrome turned me on to a lot of films I didn't know about or had only heard about but never seen - so for that alone I will always be grateful

Aye a book!😀 Personally, I don't think it's much of a story as the guy has been dead for a long time. Added to the fact that from what I've read/seen he seems to be a derisory figure and an easy target in the Pistols story. What would Wally's family think(if he has one)? Sometimes it's best to let sleeping dogs lie.

The only film Cox made which interested me was 'Walker' which was due to the incredible acting talent which is Ed Harris👍

Back to the original post Anarchy and Pretty Vacant still get fairly regular play for me. There is a live Anarchy version by Megadeth that is really powerful. The film/dvd There Will Always be an England is stellar. The look so badass walking on to the stage.
