Buzzcocks – Live In Manchester at Alexandra Park Saturday July 15th 1978Live In Manchester at Alexandra Park Saturday July 15th 1978 Vinyl Record – Out Now – Dandelion Records Aside from a couple of tracks on Short Circuit – Live at The Electric Circus, a 10″ vinyl mini album recorded in October 1977 and released the following June, there are few live recordings of Buzzcocks from the time. Live at Alexandra Park Saturday July 15th 1978 sees the band at their peak. Nigel Carr reviews the album for Louder Than War. The album is a non stop storm of incendiary Buzzcocks classics from the yet to be released Ever Fallen in Love, Love You More, What Do I get and of course the classic Boredom! Recorded straight from the desk at the time, the recording has been cleaned up and despite some background noise on the odd track, is remarkably clear considering its age. There are even between song quips from Pete Shelley asking the crowd to calm down and stop throwing cansFull review here: louderthanwar.com/buzzcocks-live-in-manchester-at-alexandra-park-saturday-july-15th-1978-album-review/

had a listen to samples of this, online... sound quality is not 'mixing desk quality' ...it's pretty Lo-Fi, so i'd say only buy if you are a complete-ist

If it's early live Buzzcocks audio you are after, i'd recommend 'Buzzcocks – Beating Hearts / Small Songs With Big Hearts'A double CD from two gigs: Disc one was recorded live at the Manchester Apollo 27/10/1978. Disc two was recorded live at the London Rainbow 09/11/1979.

Diggle haters are getting in a tiz about that NME article, because there is no mention of Pete Shelley... which is a fair point, but hardly his fault. This is the modern day NME innit? ...who once wrote that Malcolm McClaren was the Bass player in the Sex Pistols

Was only mildly aware that the NME still existed on line, just looked at it for the first and last time. How the mighty has fallen.

WOW!! ...in fact DOUBLE WOW!! for The Lone Sharkies the Aberdare gig went WAY better for us, than i dared imagine. Welsh people, like the Aussie's are very direct and down to earth, but we got an amazing response in front of a sold out crowd. People came upto us after our set to shake our hands and pat us on the back. As something of a shy introvert with pessimistic tendencies, i figured at best, we'd get the odd polite smattering of applause, whilst the crowd waited for what they'd really come to see. But every song we played was greeted with a loud roar of approval and even some spontaneous dancing. Playing this gig was a really BIG deal for me, and i got no sleep the night before, over thinking it. Steve Diggle is one of those people that polarises opinions, but in Aberdare he was treated like a conquering hero.
