If Trump wins or stages a coup next year there are plenty of his supporters prepared to extend his rule to most of Europe and a big chunk of South America.
All the politicians and social media influencers are in place.
These people want us dead if we don't agree with them. Or in camps. Just look at the likes of Braverman.
I'd really really really love to be wrong.

I wonder if a country tries it once and then realises these populists are all wind and piss Those who vote for them are not the brightest voters though it's sad to say, otherwise they wouldn't fall for simple answers to very complicated questions. How many MAGA voters ask "why do we need to be great again", what did you do when you was President before?

Yeah, the US might well be the exception as it's so ludicrously polarised and, as you suggest, yer average Trump voter is uneducated, ignorant and feels threatened

GB News was questioning whether the rioters were far-right. Presumably they mean that you don't have to be far-right to oppose immigration which is of course correct. GB News has to adopt hard-right positions to keep its audience as there are plenty of social-media influencers prepared to throw the same red meat. The Overton Window meanwhile goes ever more right.

Large-scale arrests expected for suspected ringleaders of Dublin riot
Police promise arrests in coming weeks as government seeks to expand use of facial recognition technologyIrish police are expected to make sweeping arrests of suspected ringleaders of Thursday’s riot in Dublin and to obtain wider rights to use facial recognition technology to help identify suspects in any future disorder.
The moves come amid mounting pressure on the government and police chiefs over the mayhem on 24 November when an estimated 500 anti-immigrant activists and gangs of youths looted shops, burned vehicles and attacked police, leaving swathes of Ireland’s capital resembling a war zone.www.theguardian.com/world/2023/nov/27/large-scale-arrests-expected-for-suspected-ringleaders-of-dublin-riot
