Rubella Ballet later this month, I think this is the 3rd or 4th re-schedule, the original gig was supposed to be April 2020.
Conflict are headlining but I'm not bothered about seeing them.

I managed to get a cheap ticket for PIL on Monday.
It'll be interesting to see how well attended it is. Venue holds about 1500. It's usually about 9/10 full for PIL.

I've seen Conflict a few times since the 80's and they lack the balls of their heyday They should take a leaf out of Discharges book and beef up their sound👍

Conflict are headlining but I'm not bothered about seeing them. I don't blame you. An utterly worthless group. If Crass were Elvis, Conflict were Shaking Stevens, albeit 100x more fake.

It'll be a wonder if they turn up anyway, I've read they've got a reputation for pulling out off gigs.

You should start a new thread comparing punk bands, that would make interesting reading Broadly speaking, punk groups fall into two categories. On one side you have Crass and the Sex Pistols, and on the other you have Conflict and The Banned

From my own experience recently, there have been no problems with them turning up that I know of. Colin is Conflict-after Paco died the band just wasn't the same.

What have you heard? After Crass, Conflict were probably the most important punk band of the 80's. They had a huge impact on punk and politics within punk.

Afree Crass, Conflict were probably the most important punk band of the 80's. They had a huge impact on punk and politics within punk. Yeah, I know they were popular - but not with me
They repeatedly pulled out of gigs in the Glasgow and Edinburgh areas at the last moment (pre-covid), apparently ticket sales were poor but other excuses were provided for not playing.

To be honest. If they played here and pulled out I wouldn't have noticed as I don't really pay much attention to gig listings these days unless there's someone I really want to see. They'll never be as popular as they once were and those days of hundreds of people at gigs for most 'older' bands are well and truely over. The problem with Conflict was thst they got TOO popular and there was a lot of bickering around them and they started feuding with the likes Oi Polloi etc. Seems like a lot of punk's need heroes despite supposedly being 'anti- star'.

They always had their own style although occasionally, they outdid even the likes of Antisect and Discharge.

Discharge were head and shoulders above the other 'hardcore' punk groups at the time. Conflict were down at the bottom, under the Varukers, Dirt and Abrasive Wheels.

Conflict were down at the bottom, under the Varukers, Dirt and Abrasive Wheels. Strictly speaking Conflict weren't a hardcore punk band although they did some songs which could be considered hardcore. If it was a straight choice between Discharge's 'Hear Nothing' and Antisect's debut album a lot of people would go for the latter-that's how influential.it was and is.
