I don't think I ever paid more than £30 to see Buzzcocks. Who were a far far better band.
The zeitgeist appears to be 'let's exclude'. Even in 'punk'.

It's just tired old rock'n'roll.
Think Scabies needs the cash. I mean you can tell, as it looks as if he seriously needs to go to a dentist.

Just listened to the 1st elpee recently. You have to be seriously fit to play music that fast; especially Scabie's frenzied drumming, and the guitar parts are amazing in some of the songs as well.
I think I heard that Zeppelin's Jimmy Page and John Bonham couldn't believe anyone could play that fast at the time, and were fans of the band.
If you're paying through the nose for those tickets, you have to wonder what sort of show you're getting from 65 yo guys.

It's just tired old rock'n'roll. Absolutely. Pay between £15 to £20 to see the Upstarts or Subs whose old and new songs are still as relevant today. Or pay seventy five plus for a forty year old catalogue and a performance which just can't be replicated by blokes in their mid to late sixties. You Take My Money indeed.

I saw the current incarnation do the first album about five years ago - it is exhilerating hearing those songs live. But not at those prices!
Brian James lives near me and I see him from time to time. He's like an old man now. At least Cap n Dave still seem pretty sprightly

£75 a ticket I understand.I ain’t paying that! At that price they will be able to afford a lot of custard pies, perhaps even a few whoopee cushions, too

...Yes, there was no room for humour during The New Wave

I saw Rat Scabies drumming with the Members around 6 years ago and he was brilliant(as were the rest of the band). I don't think he gets the credit for his subtlety either which he displayed during the Members set. There were only 20 people watching this so he'd have been lucky if he'd made a pint and a packet of fags out of it but he still gave it his all. That's punk rock for ye but. Its not all hotels and grand crowds. To some degree we all chose where we wanted to be...and that includes Scabies.

thanks Stu - that's a really fascinating interview with Rat. I've heard a few tracks by Professor & The Madmen - sounded pretty good.
