Hopefully this kind of story might inspire the Government to step in and help venues until crowds can come back

Why should the taxpayer bail out a lot of these millionaires?

Why should the taxpayer bail out a lot of these millionaires? Which millionaires are you thinking of? I'm thinking of music venues, small theatres etc etc The ones I know of in my city are not owned by millionaires. Far from it.

It’s the small venues that need propping up,the large venues will no doubt carry on with socially distanced shows.

Of all the venues I've had dealings with only Nottingham Rock City has a healthy balance sheet and it's taken them forty years to get there. Some millionaire venue owners exist but these are the big corporate stadiums that put on Guns N Roses and Ideal Homes Exhibitions. Not the 200 to 1000 max capacity places real music fans frequent.
Scarborough venues were struggling pre Covid, one will never return no matter what, the others are teetering precariously.

The tool who owns the Sub Club in Glasgow who's crying because he can't add to his fortune. Also these O2 shitholes. Why should we pay for these so called private enterprises? Do they share their profits with us? Do they feck!!

Yes, agree any assistance should be means tested but not many want to emerge from this pandemic with no venues because they've all gone bust. See also theatres, independent cinemas, community sport clubs etc

Theres a huge difference between the tax payer bailing out wealthy organisations and greedy rich individuals and 'funding the arts'.
It's a bit like bailing out the banks.
These chancers and spivs can stick their begging bowls up their arses.

Lincoln Drill Hall loses its council funding. An annual grant of £180k has been withdrawn by the cash strapped authority and with no income coming in because of covid19, the future looks bleak.
Right in the centre in the city with its iconic metal face above the entrance this is a real communal art hub, staging everything from the likes of Sleaford Mods to Christmas Pantomimes.
The consortium I was involved with put on New Model Army there about a decade ago. Fantastic night.

There's been some big open-air concerts and festivals in my town recently. The concerts were mainly by boring old fart-hard rocker-balladeer types, and the recent festival featured lots of younger bands of which I know nothing. Good luck to those who went to see them. Quite a few people came from interstate, which for some of them meant going into self-paid quarantine for two weeks. It seems they were only looking for an excuse to escape the cabin fever created by lockdown

So many shoebox adjacent venues are never going to bounce back from this, it really shouldn’t have went down like this.

V depressing PU
A venue near me has announced a month of socially distanced gigs in December! Seems quite optimistic but they've gone and done it. Normally it's a standing venue c500 capacity and they're filling it with tables which you book.
