Yes, i have. Roland Link is a great writer and a top bloke to boot. It's a painstakingly well researched complete history of the band, going way back before The Ruts as we know them existed. Roland has also published books on Stiff Little Fingers and The Screaming Dead.

I was hoping they might bring it out in paperback but I'm just gonna have to bit the bullet and splash out on the hardback Especially as it has the ALS seal of approval I'll also say the book is well worth a read, esp in terms of their early days. I preferred it to the SLF book. They were the first band I was really into, and buying everything up to Rhythm Collision as soon as they came out. I still remember going into town with my Dad and buying The Crack ( I was 14 at the time ). I remember reading the review Garry Bushell gave it in sounds, and why he wouldn't give it 5 stars. ( Because he didn't think the band were in the same company as those they were sat amongst on the cover and because of Malcolm Owen's comments on 'Human Punk' - "Look....we're playing like a bunch of f***in' wankers at the moment, right?" ). I was too young to see them with Malcolm, and should have made an effort to see them the last time with Paul Fox. I'm sure Segs said that they were finishing off a new album on their Stranglers tour support slot.

£35 ouch! How on earth do they justify that? I get embarrassed when I have to put out new LPs at £25.

Why on earth people would buy new vinyl is beyond me?🤔
It's just a circuit for hipster gimps. I personally only buy second hand vinyl and only if it's a bargain.
The Ruts are well past their sell by date. It's just appearance money and a pension pot now.

...as an incurable Hipster Gimp, i buy new vinyl all the time Alot of small labels now do vinyl or download only, and i like to support their endeavours on the former. I love to read lyric sheets and admire great artwork and design as the stylus hits the groove That said, i think i would balk at shelling out £35 for a single album... a double maybe. There's a UK Punk/Alt label i like that put out new vinyl albums for around £16 to £18 The market for CDs has mostly dried up (unless it comes with a ton of extras) as streaming and downloads has pretty much rendered them obsolete. One of the proudest moments in my bands long history, was when i got five of these made...

I still buy CD's as I have to have a tangible object relating to music I've bought. Downloads and streaming just don't do it for me. Metal Box in Dub was my last purchase a few days ago and I'm waiting on 2 x Toxic Reasons CD which should come this week. I take a different CD for the drive into work everyday as I find it a good way to listen to a complete album ( the fast forward/skip button is banned ). My local Oxfam has a great selection of CD's ( at £1.99 ) with a regular turnover of stock. If you see one good CD for sale it usually means there's more available in a similar vein as someone is getting rid of their CD collection ( or they've died and the relatives are having a clear out ). As the Ruts were the first punk band I was really into, I'll buy their releases in some shape or form. But I couldn't justify the vinyl at that price, so it's the CD.

Harsh I really like Ruts DC Seen them loads and have everything they’ve released I’m slightly less keen since they moved away from the reggae/dub sound but it’s still all varying degrees of good Downloads are fine by me Looking to sell all my vinyl and CDs in the near future

The Ruts were never the same after Owen died and a few of the later albums were just turgid rock to me.
Good people but like the Stanglers, time to retire.
I would never sell my vinyl. Means to much too me. The CD's perhaps but never the records.🤨

The Ruts were never the same after Owen died and a few of the later albums were just turgid rock to me Most of them are more reggae/dancehall/dub The last alubm was more punk rock, and less interesting This is a good example of the sort of thing that I really like by Ruts DC... Ruts DC - Mighty Soldier
