Possibly one of the best of the 2nd wave punk bands.
Their debut 12" 'Leather Bristles, Studs and Acne' was a template for so many'crossover'bands.
Brilliant live too👍

Yep, LBS&A is a great EP, their finest work as far as I'm concerned. City Baby Attacked By Rats LP is a decent listen though a move in a different direction from the EP. I find their stuff after that a bit hit or miss, well, mostly miss but that's just my 2 bobs worth. Agree that they're great live though, caught them 3 or 4 years back in a small venue, bloody ace. 👍🤩
I stopped listening after the 'City Baby's Revenge'album which was also bloody brilliant.
However, I found my original copy of LBSAA last week, cleaned it up and gave it a blast earlier this morning.
Even the birds on the washing line were nodding in approval.😎

I had quit the movement before embarrassing parody groups like GBH, the Varukers, Abrasive Wheels etc did the rounds.Phew.

Did you know that GBH started in 1977?Probably involved in'The Movement' before you were?
What did you think of the music?Especially the opening track?

I heard them around 81, unfortunately. I neither know nor care what the names of their crappy tunes were.

So how can you tell if they're good or not? I heard the record in your OP when it came out. I thought they were crap. I don't need to listen to it again to confirm it. Discharge were the only decent group out of that scene.

Fair enough but it seems to me you just like slagging bands of a certain era just regardless of whether they're good enough or not. It's all very silly🤣
At least the bands I don't rate I was foolish to have actually bought the records(i.e the Ramones, the Clash after 78 etc)
You're loss however. What I would say though that even though GBH were on Clay etc(like your other whipping boys Abrasive Wheels)they sound nothing like each other.
I always thought lyrically GBH were well ahead of Discharge even if some of it was a right load of old tosh🤣

One unfortunate exception was Anti Pasti's 'Four Sore Points' EP, which turned out to be mediocre, shouty crap like most of those groups.

Know what you mean give me Pasti over the monotonous 2 chord droning of the Ramones anyday.
What a waste of money their first album was.😕

What a waste of money their first album was.😕 The Ramones' debut was one of 3 options available in my local record shop when I was in the market for my first new wave LP. The other two were The Damned and The Clash. Both the Damned and Ramones LP's had some good tunes on them but I dismissed both on account of the covers. The Ramones' hair wasn't right and the Damned looked like stupid students doing some kind of rag week prank. Suffice to say, I was not disappointed with my choice on that occasion
