Well for me, GBH have plenty of tunes. As do the likes of 7 Seconds, Dag Nasty, Dead Kennedys, BGK,MDC etc.
Fast tunes maybe but tunes none the less, all proficiently played.

I wager I'd have a better time at a GBH gig than the Strokes with a lot of silly hipster students shoegazing As a GBH fan that's a no brainer Get yerself over to Sweden - they're playing in September 2020 I expect you'd get to hear Birmingham Smiles... Another tune that sounds a bit hackneyed and cliched to my ears Strong metal influence that is not to my taste 999 are more my kinda thing

What a rotter Public Disgrace's Toxteth is poor. I am confident I would derive much more pleasure from grooving to Julian Casablancas and his Strokes than PD. At least with The Strokes, if they have an off night you can chat to some of the shoegazing hipster students. Not so sure the conversational quality would be so stimulating with the Public Disgrace crowd I'm a massive Prefab Sprout fan - blimmin wonderful group Steely Dan not so much. I've tried quite hard to like them. Danny Baker is a big fan but it's just too produced and sterile sounding. I quite like the odd tune e.g. Haitain Divorce, and Ricky Don't Lose That Number, but quite like being the operative phrase, if it turns up on the radio I'll hum along but if I never heard them again I'd feel no loss whatsoever (unlike The Stokes, New Order and many others, which would be a terrible loss) Pick up the Sprout discussion here... talkpunk.freeforums.net/thread/213/prefab-sproutPick up the Steely Dan discussion here... talkpunk.freeforums.net/thread/344/steely-dan

Public Disgrace's Toxteth is poor. It could be said that it lacks some of the subtle harmonic counterpoint of 'Raspberry Cripple' by Stench

It could be said that it lacks some of the subtle harmonic counterpoint of 'Raspberry Cripple' by Stench I marginally prefer Raspberry Cripple (I see what they did there) They've even got a Nigel in their ranks It sez here... Although musically poor, The Stench were outrageous and obnoxious enough to light up the Wolverhampton's underground for a brief time, more on the strength of their anti-social antics than any sort of creative ability. They formed in the summer of 1981.

Perhaps we need a dedicated UK 82 thread to avoid drifting too far off topic. I bet Roguey will have relevant content to share...

Not a huge fan of the later stuff to be honest Latest album by The Strokes is a banger Would love to hear it live Maybe a Strokes gig might be more enjoyable then?

Well you're wrong there with your daft stereotypes as I hate all that Scottish shite.
I'm Glaswegian rather than 'Scottish'.
