For me The Bad Brains ROIR Tapes album is THE definitive Hardcore statement... nothing else, including their own later records even comes close in terms of lightening strike energy ...even when they slowed the tempo down, it's still mind blowing. Jimi Hendrix would have loved the Bad Brains if he hadn't checked out 10 years before... Absolutely Andy. I mind the ROIR tape being advertised in MRR at the time but there was no way I could afford it back then. Did you buy it? They just took punk by the scruff of the neck around 1980 I suppose it says a lot that it was a 'black' punk band that had to do it.

Yeah i agree the last one was the best.Sorry not a big fan of Hardcore. The lyrics are a big part of this genre i.e.very political but for the most part the lyrics are indecipherable. What would you say is the difference between UK Hardcore and US Hardcore? It really depends on the era I think. I mean Discharge would be seen to the main originators in the early 80's whose influence spread throughout Europe. America was so huge that different scenes developed different variations. I mean look at the difference between Boston and DC and then again the difference between New York and LA or even Reno where 7 Seconds hailed from or even Austin Texas where the Dicks and MDC came from. There are huge variations.

A lot of their lyrics revolve around hating the cops so Zeo would love them🙂 I bet they don't hate the cops as much as my old band the Dead Heroes I'm pretty proud of the lyrics I wrote for one of our songs called 'Bacon in Blue' You'll get arrested by bacon in blue You'll get arrested cos all they wanna do... is YOU

Punks shouting and making a noise? 🤩😂 Why are you so narrow minded and conservative? 🤔 If anything I'm too open minded and receptive I need to develop more discernment as I love too much music and it's hard to enjoy it all I do have a few blind spots. Most hardcore just doesn't do it for me - see all a lot of Metal, Trance, Opera and a few more A lot of the hardcore you've posted sounds very loud and tuneless - I like hooks in amongst the noise
It's interesting that you don't rate Ramones, and also The Clash once they got a bit more sophisticated and eclectic. It's just personal preference. I expect there's lots of other punk groups I love (perhaps The Slits, Ants, 999, Wire, Talking Heads?) that you don't rate.
A more brainy person than me might be able to convincingly argue that Hardcore is a completely different genre to punk. I see little to connect most of the 76-77 punk groups to much of the hardcore scene. Then again, I'm not that clued up on it.
What do you think? Crucifucks are wonderful. Both their self titled debut and 'Wisconsin' albums are two of the most played records in my collection.👍 Good to know. That track you posted is a goodie. I'm interested to check out more by them.
