The last time I saw the Stranglers was at Féile an Phobail in 2011 and whilst I kinda enjoyed them(think it was the setting more than anything)it just wasn't the same.
I doubt anyone there that night would have expected them to play Israel later on in that decade but they did.
Pure political opportunism 🙄

I saw them a few years back and it was a sell out show Their fans are very loyal and won't care it's only JJ from the original line up The vocalist has probably been in the group longer than Hugh was now I don't begrudge fans the opportunity to see a version of their favourite group At least The Stranglers will have one original member, unlike Dr Feelgood Jet Black although not often playing is still part of The Stranglers...I think |

Jet will be 83 at the end of this month, so yes... he is not drumming full sets with the Stranglers anymore.
Baz Warne has been in the band now for over 20 years - i think the fans now accept that Hugh is never coming back.
As i understand it and mentioned on here already, the next album is their last and they will split up after it has been released and they have toured to promote it as a tribute to the memory of Dave Greenfield

Got a copy of Coup De Grace in the other day and just got round to playing it this morning. Abysmal, if you were listening to this without knowing who it was, you'd be forgiven for saying Blur b sides. Limp and lifeless, Greenfield's keyboards buried so low in the mix, that they're barely discernible.
I've just googled more reviews this afternoon and not even the most ardent Stranglers fan seems to have a good word for it.

He was a successful businessman up until the mid-1970s, owning a fleet of ice cream vans, and an off-licence in Guildford, called 'The Jackpot'. This establishment was the base for the early Stranglers. Can't find my fully signed copy of No More Heroes . Have searched high and low.
Think it may have been nicked by workmen who were in recently.

They were part of an organised gang who pose as workmen in order to get inside the homes of old Stranglers fans and steal their records. I have no doubt your copy of No More Heroes will turn up in PU's shop eventually, so don't worry, I am sure he will let you know |
