Very honest and unapologetic - but also completely matter of fact and straightforward. Seems as though nothing was off limits too. Highly recommended. |

I gave up on the modern Stranglers a long time ago but bought 'Dark Matters' yesterday as a wee tribute to Dave Greenfield.
Has anyone heard it?

I was surprised that he admitted being a millionaire. A great listen, it could have gone on hours I'm sure. One or two things I'd never heard before too. |

The problem I have with the modern Stranglers is that they are politically mercenary.
One minute they're playing the West Belfast Festival then a few years later they're doing gigs in Israel.
They should have just disbanded when Dave Greenfield died.

I don't like JJB's 'ageing hardman'persona.
Pathetic that a man his age has to behave like that to get attention.
I don't think Hugh Cornwell rates the current Stranglers and I can see why.
Dave was the last real link to their uniqueness.

I saw an interview with JJB who defended Israeli 'democracy'. Pity he didn't mention Israeli ethnic cleansing in the same breathe. Politically, he's an intellectually bereft of any consistent opinion as well as being a mercenary. Another reason why they should have packed it in years ago. |
