This is the new album by 999, released on the American Cleopatra Records label. This maybe the last album they release, a shame as it has some fantastic songs on it. Because of the Pandemic, it's not been an easy record to buy on CD and Vinyl. I contacted Nick Cash in early in April (when i managed to score an early vinyl copy on "Homicidal-Nasty Nasty" green vinyl) to congratulate him on it, and he didn't even have a copy of it, himself. My favourite songs on this album are: "Shoot" - "Crazy Tuesday World" - "Don't Start A Fight" - "I Hate It All" - "Addicted" - "My Dad Trashed My Submarine" - "The Midnight Express" The Midnight Express and Don't Start A Fight could easily be released as singles... both songs are so damn catchy. I Hate It All is also a standout track as it is a radical departure in what you might expect from 999. It's dark, it's eerie, it's very haunting... BRILLIANT!

Thanks Andy - I'll try and get a copy of that one
Why might it be their last ever LP?

Thanks Andy - I'll try and get a copy of that one Why might it be their last ever LP? ...the march of time Nigey and how much longer they have the energy and the desire to continue, but it's not a definate, it has been speculated online though. This is an example of why 999 are much more than just a 'Punk' band to me...

I put them on a couple of years ago and Nick and Guy were not in the best of health then. Since that time I've heard Arturo has one or two medical issues too. Any info Andy?

Any info Andy? ...like i say, no official statement... just online speculation. But Nick and Guy are nearer 70 than 60 now and they may decide, enough is enough. I know that Nick is frustrated at the moment that they have this new album out and cannot play gigs to promote it until we get back to something approaching normality again. They have had to cancel a large chunk of what they had booked for this year. When they played in America on the East Coast last year, which was a great success, again there was speculation that was for the last time... but who knows.

I didn't realise they were that old. The last time I saw them was a couple of years back. They were great but Nick and Guy didn't look in the best of health so what you say makes sense
Back to the album, I can see it's available to buy as a download on Apple and Amazon but is there a place to download it direct from the band, or a place where the band get a larger share of the £££?

Probably here is where they would get a larger share than anywhere else, Nigey... nineninenine999.bandcamp.com/album/bish-bash-bosh

That's great - thanks Andy
I believe Bandcamp have waived all their fees for a short time to help out the artists
Off to splash the cash now

Listened to about half so far - very good.
First impressions are that it's better than Death in Soho
I love Nick's voice
Are they UK punk band that have been going longest? I know they had a few years off here and there but they've been pretty much ever present since 76

I think 1984 was the only year they were not active. Jon Watson had left the band by then. Superb bass player very hard to replace. The Midnight Express and Don't Start A Fight would make good singles i reckon. They have a wonderful Pop sensibility

I've been listening to Bish! Bash! Bosh! on and off over the last few months. I really like it Who'd have thought 999 would be one of the more enduring and consistent groups back in the day?
They've kept the quality going through the decades

...yes, they have soldiered on through thick and thin and i think alot of people respect them for that.
I notice in this day and age that "casual ageism" seems to be acceptable sometimes amongst the the chattering classes ... that because a band are veterens, they are of no worth. Well, this album proves how unjust that is.

Well, this album proves how unjust that is. Bang on Andy. I hope they can continue to play live too. When I saw them in November 2018 they were as good as ever. The whole place was rocking, and on that night the crowd included Jordan and Captain Sensible who were dancing along with everyone else Now many of us are approaching our free bus passes I have to say that if anyone dies under the age of 75 I think "that's young". Funny how perspective changes.
