What do we all think of Idles? Easily one of the best British acts to surface in the last decade or so. youtu.be/BuQG6_evFc8

I would agree though many TPers would say not
I've seen them four times and they are as exhilerating a live experience as I've come across in my nearly 60 years on the planet

I have mixed feelings about The Idles... on the one hand it's great to see a local band get somewhere and no one can say they don't play with total conviction on the other hand, despite liking one or two songs by them, they come across to me as contrived... a 'Hipster' band with their guitar straps under their chins, beards and taches that are repackaging U.S. Post Hardcore from the late 80s/90s and selling it to millennials.

I think their conviction is what they are all about
Their shows are really something
I don't tend to listen to their recordings much, except the odd track here and there

You’re probably not far off, the music is great but they’re probably a ‘hipster’ band as you put it which is probably why they’re so popular. The people who still listen to Arctic Monkeys in 2020 aren’t suddenly going to start listening to punk unless they like the aesthetic. Think I’ve seen them live a couple of times and I thoroughly enjoyed the performances, I highly recommend it!

I've listened to their first 2 albums around 10 times each and I'm not rushing to put either of them back on.
If they shaved off the beards and got mohicans and gave GBH a go I might give them another chance.
Seriously though, they haven't got that spark.
Don't believe the hype.

Thanks Rogue
Live is the only environment they make sense
The albums are okay but go see them live and I think you'd have whole different perspective
I've seen them five times and would be there like a shot next time they're in town
The venues have been getting bigger and bigger, and yet the shows still succeed every time

So called 'hipster punks' are what's wrong about what's supposed to be punk these days.
Expensive black band hoodies beards nose piercing and sleeve tattoos.
Fannies the lot of them.🤬

It's reassuring that they provoke extreme reactions They must be doing something right I really like their videos. They always seem to do something new and interesting. This is the most recent one - for A Hymn - which came out a week ago... IDLES - A HYMN (Official Video)
