Waiting for my album to arrive, but like what I've heard so far.
Really enjoyable gig at Pryzm in Kingston last night. A couple of minor technical issues, but nothing too inconvenient.

What's yer verdict wardance?
I've long thought Idles only really makes sense as a live experience - and what a live experience, up there with the very best I've ever seen over my nearly 50 years of gig going
TANGK is making me revise my opinion. I'm beginning to think they've made a really good album that stands up on its own merits
Early days still but it's getting under my skin
It's such a shame most people seem to have made their mind up about Idles and often take a dismissive stance - they really are something special and five albums in, and on the strength of TANGK, still getting better
I had totally rejected going to see them on this tour as the big venue they are playing locally is so soulless and bland but now I'm thinking I need to get down there

I know I could stream it, but it has to be a tangible product for me. I saw Idles a couple of years ago at Brixton Academy, although I wasn't familiar with much of their material at the time. I've subsequently addressed this failing. I must admit they've grown on me, and am really looking forward to hearing TANGK in full as what I've heard has impressed me, not least the production. I saw them at the album Pryzm ( Kingston ) last week and they were fantastic. The venue was small enough to make it more of an intimate gig. Passionate, energetic, chaotic. I have booked a couple of tickets to see them in Belfast in November where the venue is smaller than my realistic options in this country. Plus the wife had to miss last week as we couldn't get a dog sitter. Brighton is still an option though. ( And wouldn't it be great if they did Rockaway Beach ). |
