They had their moments before they squeezed Jones out, but they should have stfu in 1968 The exact moment their golden age started... Stale, boring fake blues that makes Status Quo look interesting by comparison

Chas & Dave are more blues than the stones in the very early days they tried to play their version of blues ...and failed miserably, to my ear. The Pretty Things were way more authentic

The Pretty Things were way more authentic What is this authenticity you speak of? And why does it matter to you?

The Pretty Things were way more authentic What is this authenticity you speak of? And why does it matter to you? Put it this way: if you were going to the shops, which kind of banknote would you prefer to have in your pocket, Bank of England, or Monopoly?

Nah. That doesn't work Zeo.
What does authenticity mean in terms of music?
Why does it matter to you?

Or many others
Authenticity is meaningless when it comes to music
Every artist adopts ideas, riffs, attitudes etc from what came previously
It’s what they do with it that counts - and that is only ever in the subjective opinion of the listener
I’d say the Stones transcended their influences and, at their peak, were extraordinary
Other opinions are available
