Authenticity is meaningless when it comes to music In that case... Shakin Stevens = Elvis Merton Parkas = Small Faces Mariah Carey = Dionne Warwick Good Charlotte = Sex Pistols Harry Styles = David Bowie ....etc, etc.

Bit of chin stroking at best I think it symbolises me and Roguey settling the matter of who is worst, the Stones or the Clash

Exile On Main Street is a very overrated album in my opinion. Conceived and made in a lavish French chateau in an orgy of hedonism, it is a bloated, overlong retread of past glories and the beginning of Rolling Stones inc.
Beggars Banquet or Let It Bleed are the two that nail the sixties. Some critics ponder if they should have called it a day like the Beatles, finishing with Sticky Fingers.

Early Clash definitely were the better of the two but I'm no expert on the Stones.
Theres no denying that they did around 20 or so great songs though.

And that's just on Exile on Main Street alone I have yet to find an imitation that is preferable to the genuine article, other than for ethical reasons. I'm sure we could find one or two if we set our minds to it That said your terminology "the genuine article" is laden with assumptions that I would challenge

I don't care what anyone says but this Brian Jones riff is absolutely hypnotic.

^ He seems to be fascinated by something on the ceiling. And George Best spotted on the dance floor at 1.37

I thought Brian Jones being totally disinterested probably summed up his attitude to TOTP.👍

Today's album of the day... The Rolling Stones - Let It Bleed (1969)

As well as the obvious 'Big Hitters' on Let It Bleed... this is a song that haunts the inner caverns of my mind... i think it's the delicate piano intro and top riffage from Keef
