Not the Stones I like tbh.
Black and Blue album was a band in transition. Mick Taylor had left and Ronnie Wood was just a hired hand. Personally, that was end of my love affair with the band. By the eighties, I had no interest whatsoever.

A new Rolling Stones album Didn't see that coming In a Hackney event today, the rockers revealed their new LP Hackney Diamonds will be released on October 20.
At the event they also presented their new single, Angry, and dropped the music video featuring actor Sydney Sweeney, 25.
Remaining band members Sir Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood were interviewed today by US talk show icon Jimmy Fallon in a livestreamed event from the north London location.
Their last new material album 18 years ago was A Bigger Band, and their last cover album was Blue & Lonesome.
It is the first album since the death of the Rolling Stone’s long-time drummer Watts two years ago.The Rolling Stones - Angry (Official Video)The Rolling Stones launch 'Hackney Diamonds'

I love The Stones up through 'Tattoo You', to be sure.
I also respect the hell out of them for doing what they do for as long as they've done it.
But I honestly won't bother with any new music beyond a cursory listen to the singles.

I agree, but as you suggest it's miraculous to think how long they've sustained a career at the very top

The Angry video seems to be pretty innovative. At least, I have never seen anything like it. The song is okay. I am sure there are lots of hidden messages in all of those images if anybody has the patience to sift through them.

I agree, but as you suggest it's miraculous to think how long they've sustained a career at the very top Very top? Certainly not in album sales for nigh on 40 years. Touring? yes, but what percentage is going to say "I saw The Stones"? To me they are their own tribute act, charging insane prices to a demographic that aren't too fussy and want an event rather than a gig. Love them for their past, but see them as a busted flush post mid 80's. Also remember Keef saying clearly that without Charlie there would be no Stones, guess throwing shapes and counting money is a tough habit to give up.

All true. Not defending it or them but if you’d have said to anyone in the mid 1960s that people would still be paying top dollar to see them live in 2023 they’d laugh
I saw them live in 1980 I think it was. Wembley Stadium. Had really low expectations and was unsure what on earth I was thinking. I had a brilliant time. One of the best gigs I’ve ever seen

I had the opportunity to see the Stones in 1997. I was working in Vegas and a dozen or so of my colleagues including my manager were off to see them at $300 a pop. 'Expense it if you want to join us', he said. 'No thanks', I said. Little Richard and Chuck Berry were playing on the same night for $75. Monkey or organ grinder? Not exactly the hardest of choices.
