Billy on Word in your Ear...
n which old pal of the podcast Billy Bragg maps out his past in records, posters, tickets, self-made fanzines and old curios from the loft and opens a box of singles to savour "the smell of 1972". Includes fond memories of '70s Stones and Who shows, discs sold in sweet shops, songwriters that fired his imagination (one like "a Jackson Browne who'd beat you up and steal your girlfriend"), and some very touching thoughts about two albums that have never let him down.

Gotta be Levi Stuubs Tears for me, a stone classic. I did enjoy his 2013 "Tooth And Nail" album, though and his reinvention as an American roots rocker. Also never understood why you need to be skint and live in a hovel to have socialist views or get condemned as some form of "champaign socialist".

Also never understood why you need to be skint and live in a hovel to have socialist views or get condemned as some form of "champaign socialist". What do you think of Communist Party members in Eastern Europe getting privileges at the expense of other people? Isn't that what the Western press told everyone why socialism didn't work? The difference is that Bragg makes his money as a capitalist through capitalist business and openly enjoys the trappings of his wealth. Irony is here that he(like Weller)was never a socialist to begin with. He is a rich right wing liberal. Another irony. Roger Waters is a rich left wing liberal.
