Watching this most interesting interview with Midge Ure reminded me of how great I thought lots of their stuff was , from the Foxx years through Vienna onwards and fab singles like the Thin Wall , All Stood Still and the Voice.
There is a brief mention of meeting loads of punk royalty on his first night in London after joining the Rich Kids (including Sid and Nancy)

Always preferred the Foxx era music, but Midge came across as a decent bloke. Me and a mate shinned up a drainpipe and through an open window to sneak into their Southampton Gaumont show in 1980. Darned if we were going to pay, but it was a night out. Security caught us and were in the process of bundling us out when Midge stuck his head out of the dressing room door, told them to let us go, invited us in to share their rider and have a chat, and let us watch the show backstage. Class.

Midge Ure lives locally, i used to see him in the city centre sometimes, or popping into a Computer Shop to get his Apple Mac fixed... ironically John Foxx lives locally too I wonder if they've ever bumped into each other in Costa-Coffee?

I quite like wee Midge.
I don't blame him for swapping Vienna from Cambuslang as the latter is a pure dump!
I'd like to investigate Foxx era Ultravox as I've only heard a couple of tracks.
Any recommendations?

...all three of the 'FOXX ERA' albums are fab, but Ha!-Ha!-Ha! is my favourite. So may great songs on this album. They influenced Gary Numan... and no doubt Magazine and Simple Minds, too

The classic Punk single 'Young Savage' is my favourite Ultravox song, but Ha!-Ha!-Ha! is their full length masterpiece

Just listened to all of the above on my head phones.
I'd certainly buy Ha-Ha-Ha on the strength of those songs👍

I see you can get Ha-Ha-Ha on vinyl on ebay quite cheaply.
I've went right off CD's big style. The sound quality is so one dimensional.
