The Rainbow album is truly magnificent and essential for all the Foxx era fans. TV Orphans would get a rewrite later as Fear In The Western World, which includes the original songs title in the lyrics. Someone correct me but I think the tune I Came Here To Meet You was from their old Tiger Lily days. I saw them mid 77 and they did play it but maybe it was a bit Hey, Hey! glammy as they had dropped it from their set in early 78. All the songs from the Rainbow are on YouTube, great sound and footage. Thanks PU - can't to hear it The Foxx era was magnficent ...ah splendid - i wonder where the link had gone on DM's last post For some reason it was not showing so I added the link to his post The one I posted is a slightly different flyer

...i have since been told, they were supporting Eddie & The Hot Rods that night, which seems logical as they were both on Island RecordsĀ I can understand why the Rainbow album is nearly all out attack now. My Sex and I Want To Be A Machine might not have gone down so well with the Hot Rods crowd.

...yes. it's hard to imagine young kids amped on the Maximum R'n'B of The Hot Rods going potty over songs like 'Hiroshima Mon Amour'

Blasted out the Rainbow live album yesterday
Yes, essential listening
I didn't realise the Foxx era could be such a visceral live experience
Would love to have seen them
Thanks Andy

They were great live. One abiding memory of them was their gig at the Nottingham University. The instrumental close of I Want To Be A Machine and the stage was lit by a single, pulsing strobe. Currie on violin plus Foxx, Shears and Cross swaying side to side in silouhette, whilst Cann pounded away on the kit. At the final song ending shout of Aah! from Foxx, all the stage lights blazed on. Fabulous choreography.

Very sad. Saw them twice in their brilliant Foxx years. Cross and drummer Warren Cann underpinned the avant garde art rock going on above it. They had a real variation of styles in the locker, so nice deep bass funk here:

That original incarnation is sadly underrated

They were good all the way through IMHO.
And didn't hang around outstaying their welcome.

I was in an op shop (oxfam sort of thing) a short while ago and almost bought a Christopher Cross CD. Lucky I didn't. Turns out he's an almost-namesake American soft rock sort of dude. Meanwhile, there's this.
