Seeing as PU and me enjoy a bit of the old plant based cooking, here's a thread to share ideas
One v simple tip...
If you're having Baked Beans on toast, put some marmite on the toast - flipping lovely
Or add a bit of curry powder to the beans

Tonight I'm making Lasagna with soaked cashews to make the creamy sauce between the tomato and lasagna sheets Here is the recipe for the creamy sauce - that doesn't mention soaking the cashews which you should do for 20-30 minutes, plus you'll ideally need some kind of food processor

And kit wise - a few years back I got an Instant Pot for about £100 - it's a brilliant pressure cooker. Great if you cook a lot of dried beans.

Do they eat rolls and square slice elsewhere in Britain then?

Dunno. I think I misunderstood again.
I never had rolls & square slice when I was in Glasgow - and now wonder if I know what you're talking about. I though you meant a roll with a sausage in.
As a long term veggie/vegan I haven't eaten a sausage since I was a kid

As a veggie you wouldn't have eat it.
Surely, you must have seen it being eaten? I mean even Westenders eat it in Glasgow.
It's a roll(a bap in northern England)but less flourery with a sausage(not a link)which is square.
You can get veggie versions of square slice now which are ok.

I haven't eaten a sausage since I was a kid The last time I had a real (pork) sausage was June 3 1978. A sausage in batter from the chip shop next to Southampton bus station. It was delicious.

The valedictory sausage in batter - you must keep meticulous records Zeo, or had you just seen The Clash?
Last night I cooked a homemade Chestnut and Mushroom Pie using puff pastry, with boiled red cabbage cooked with apples/apple juice, roasted parsnips, roasted swede, and roast potatoes.
Absolutely flipping delicious.

you must keep meticulous records Zeo, or had you just seen The Clash? I only saw the Clash once, sept 1980 at Portsmouth Guildhall. They rocked extremely hard.
