I'd say in terms of capturing the zeitgeist of the moment, 'Ghost Town' is up there with 'Anarchy In The UK' ...at the time i tended to think of Two Tone and the Mod Revival as one and the same... these days not so much. The Specials always had a gritty realism to their lyrics... alot of daytime Radio DJs would not play this...

Ghost Town was also blessed by two fantastic tracks on the b side. Why? a Linval Golding tune based on his experience of a racist attack followed by Friday Night, Saturday Morning, Terry Hall's delivery nailing the pitiful night out at the local disco.

I'd put Bad Manners in with this movement. They did some fantastic stuff.

The Beat were originally a Two Tone label band before moving to Go Feet. I vividly recall Ed Vaizey a Tory MP thinking this song was about Princess Margaret. From the late night OTT, an adult version of Tiswas.

I wasn't into the Two Tone scene at the time but it brought light and dark skinned youth together which is by no means a bad thing

From the late night OTT, an adult version of Tiswas. A great song but to be honest it was all a bit too nice when it came to having a go at Thatcher. I preferred The Disrupters 'Rot in Hell' or Crass' 'Don't tell me you Care'. Much more venomous👍

I heard an interview with Pauline Black on the radio about how she escorted Prince Charles around the 2 Tone exhibition in Coventry and he asked if it had something to do with soul music.

Fucking hell, this one's a bit grim. Don't remember ever hearing it before...
was put out as a single too.
