A few pub rockers on their last legs before the new wave took over. Burlesque, along with Deaf School, Kursaals and a few other acts on the arty end of that scene went from edgy to toast in the space of a couple of months

A few pub rockers on their last legs before the new wave took over. Was that an original spelling of Mark Knopflers band, Useless Disco Boys? [aka Dire Straights] The name was given to them by the owner of the bar where they played their first gig, Club Louise. Later, they changed the spelling

Cramps and Pink Military, two very different bands, Military probably on the bill because they are scousers. Specials and Madness would have been an early eye opener. Chelsea....yawn, best days behind them. Dexys for me, never saw them until Don't Stand Me Down and the Eric's gig would see them in full Soul Rebels mode.

Wouldn't mind most of them, even John Martyn and Roy Harper. One I would give a miss is those purveyors of pretentious new romantic twaddle, Classix Noveau.

If it really was only one, I'd take DKs. They would have been on top of their game then

Spoiled for choice there.
I'd have liked to have seen U2 then for sure. I don't think that building still exists. It certainly doesn't host gigs if it does.

I remember NOT going to this vividly It was due to be on the previous Sunday (as lot of the great new wave night at the Lyceum were) but got pulled for some reason, we only found out by a change of listings in Sounds. As I worked on Saturdays, getting back to Nottingham was impossible so had to give it a miss.
