Corpus Mei-Penny Rimbaud and Youth. You'll either love or loathe this. Me? I'm undecided, it's certainly different. Some of it is sonically impressive but what the fuck is Rimbaud going on about? ^ The music is okay (apart from the sax) but that vocal style puts me off Penny seems to think he's at the Old Vic playing something in Shakespeare

You're right about the 'singing'. It isn't really singing as such. I remember when I reviewed that Charlatans album that Rimbaud guested on years ago on the old board, that he sounded like the Wizard from 'The Wizard of Oz and he still does it a bit. 'Corpus Mei' is actually a unique listening experience and I think Rimbaud and Youth work well together. I would never expect Penny Rimbaud to follow the rock'n'roll template. He never has and never will. 8/10

Broken Gargoyles the new offering from the extraordinary Diamanda Galas. Quite a way to start the day.

It's actually amazing the effort Rimbaud puts into his work. It's not for everyone (what is?)but it's certainly memorable. For him, it's always been how precious life is. In someways an amazing examination of what human beings could and can be capable of.

Endangered Species by the UK Subs.
Bought the original album back in 82 but playing the deluxe CD version tonight as I'm reading Alvin Gibbs book again.
The CD version has a wee booklet with a great interview with Nick Garratt about the album.
Wonderful variation by the Subs on what is arguably their last great album.

Toxic Reasons-Kill by Remote Control.
This has been re-issued. Absolutely storming stuff👍
Quite apt given the situation in Ukraine.
