I'm still reeling from Rogue's practice of doing 15 minute + planks Which got me wondering, Rogue, what else do you do to stay fit? Do you have a regular routine? What about the rest of you punks? Do you keep fit? How do you do it? Are you as fit as you'd like to be? How motivated are you to change your routine?

Used to have exercise bike but found them immensely boring even with music on loud.
Used to road cycle a great deal but can't deal with it anymore.

I go training twice a week, do circuits and go out on the bike weather permitting.
Although, I will say that I'm finding all of these more difficult as I get older, especially the circuits.
I suppose there's only so much you can do before your age catches up with you but that's beside the point.

5 km run once a week on Sat morning
Cycling as a way of getting around
Home circuits
Bit of dancing
Walking
I'm reasonably fit but would like to do more
It does get harder with age but you've got to fight that

I've always been a hopeless runner!
Always thought walking is a lot more enjoyable and can walk around 10/15 miles and still feel OK.
I'd always use a bike for getting about and can cycle 30-40 miles no problem.
Once your body adjusts to the breathlessness of exercise, you'd be surprised how much stamina the human body has.

What about booze?
Has your relationship changed over the years?
Plus recreational drugs?
What's changed?
Why?

What about booze? Has your relationship changed over the years? Plus recreational drugs? What's changed? Why? I would -at most- have a drink once a week but that isn't a regular habit. It can be good sometimes however. No drugs or smoking for me. I don't believe in funding criminals. I didn't really think about it when I took a smoke over 30 years ago but I do now. I also find being in any drug induced state incredibly boring. I'd rather see a good film, go for a long walk or become enveloped in a good book. More Ian MacKaye than GG Allin I'm afraid.

Thanks
I smoked ciggies from 14-20 - ridiculous behaviour by an immature person
I used to be quite a big dope smoker and into mild psychedelics but soon realised they didn't suit my personality
For years it's just been booze and whilst I love the feeling of being mildly drunk I am increasingly valuing waking up clear headed and with more energy
I've not given up alcohol but haven't really drunk much throughout 2022 and can't remember having a drink in the last month. Bit annoying going to pubs and having to find something to drink. Interestingly most of my mates don't even comment on it so at least there's not that social pressure to conform. If anyone asks I just say I need to be clear headed the next day, and leave it at that
I can see a time when I stop completely. It might even have arrived

I came to the conclusion that the lethargy of dope smoking was a complete waste of time so binned it.
I was a non smoker before the Johnny Cash but started smoking because of it. I also binned that.
As for drink. You can't beat a few pints and a couple of voddies after work on a Friday but if I've got something else to do I'd rather do that.
Times too precious to be lying about suffering from hangovers.

I was out last night with three friends. They all have 6-7 pints. I have just met one of them for this morning's ParkRun. Fair play, he always turns up no matter what but he was saying how rough he felt. He didn't look great either. It's that sort of thing that makes me realise that, for me, it's just not worth it. I always have stuff to be getting on with and that's much more enjoyable and straightforward when I feel rested and alert.
Got a wedding reception later. Can't see me drinking but, then again, tomorrow's a pretty free day so I might feel inspired to have a vodka or two. Then again, hoping for a good DJ and the natural high of dancing could be a good substitute

Some people just keep going with the drinking and never seem affected by it.
A pal of mine still goes out all weekend, goes back to someone's house for more drink, goes for a kip then has an all day session in the pub then gets gear ready for work on a Sunday afternoon for Monday, has his dinner, then goes out to watch the football on a Sunday!
We once went out on a session on a Friday night, went back to someone's house until 3 in the morning and my mate was up at 6 to cycle the Clyde and Forth Canal for charity(this is about 50 miles)and he still made it! He then went for a curer in Edinburgh.
Complete madman.
No drink for me this weekend as we're off on holiday so there will be plenty of time for that(Mrs RP is a virtual tee-totaller however)

I think we've all got friends like that Superhuman isn't it? Where you going for your hols? We're off to Greece. I'm not a huge fan of super hot places but our trip to Cuba in November was cancelled.
