Had a couple of military helicopters fly over the other day, which was no doubt her returning to London from the centre. Apart from the gross waste of public money involved when she could have got a fucking train or driven there in a hour or two, I guess she was trying to again push the "invasion" nonsense into the public mind by using military aircraft.

‘Shut Manston down’ – hundreds protest outside migrant centre in pouring rainHundreds of people have staged a protest in the pouring rain outside Manston detention centre demanding it is shut down. Action Against Detention And Deportation demonstrators chanted and banged metal pots outside the Kent base, which has been at the centre of the immigration crisis this week after it became dangerously overcrowded. People in the umbrella-clad crowd shouted “shut Manston down”, while some unfurled a banner reading: “The enemy doesn’t arrive by boat, he arrives by limousine”. www.itv.com/news/meridian/2022-11-06/shut-manston-down-hundreds-protest-outside-migrant-centre-in-pouring-rain

Pondering on the origins of that banner quote. White Man in Hammersmith Palais maybe?

Just when you think this Govt can't get any more revolting
How low have we sunk when the UN’s refugee agency intervenes to criticise Sunak's new legislation?
Sunka and Braverman have both often used obnoxious and provocative language when talking about asylum and immigration
The government admits that the bill may not be compatible with the European Convention on Human Rights.
The “stop the boats” law places a legal duty on the government to detain and deport almost anyone who arrives “irregularly” to the UK. There would be limits on the use of judicial review to challenge decisions, which would make it easier to, for example, send people to Rwanda. The bill would also introduce a cap on the number of refugees the UK would offer sanctuary to through safe and legal routes.
The intention is to deter as many people as possible from entering the UK yet for all the tough talk of the last few years it has all resulted in failure
Convictions of people smugglers have halved in the last few years
Braverman would not say, when asked four times during an interview on Radio 4 this morning, whether she thought those who disagreed with the bill were not patriotic probably because some Conservative supporters will be among the many people repulsed by it.
She was also unable to say how someone with links to the UK fleeing persecution could come to the UK via a safe and legal route
Disgusting - this mob are beneath contempt

None of it will ever ahppen they 're just trying to stoke it up and hten blame the failure of the crap policies on lefty lawyers and the justice system , anyone but them .
Pathetic .
For all the rabid racists who like this stuff they must be alienating a lot of the more moderate would be tory voters who will be driven into the arms of the Lib Dems or Starmer .
Torys now an overtly racist party pandering to simple populism . Sad to see .

then he should well understand the point behind Lineker's remarks. The Conservative's and their newspaper backers are so desperate to divert the story to being about Lineker and ultimately the BBC, that they completely misrepresent what he said. He doesn't claim that anyone is going to start slaughtering these people, his remarks were aimed entirely at the dehumanising language used in 1930's Germany about particular groups of people with the aim to associate them with all societies ills as a convenient scapegoat. That has certainly been the case with people like Braverman and Patel.

In the early 90s who could have imagined that Gary Lineker and Ian Wright would be in the vanguard of defending freedom of speech and expression against a repressive state?

Shearer too.
I'm sensing a massive backlash against the BBC now. I don't remember Clarkson being subjected to this kind of censorship when he was regularly saying political stuff despite being a BBC personality. It took physical violence before he was removed.
