Top Boy finished. Truly brilliant. But who was it at the end? I assumed it was the Irish gang. Looked like a white shooter + robbery was not the motive. It was a straight execution He no longer wanted to live so quite apt The preceding scene where he was nearly shot said it all…. “How does it feel?” “To be honest I stopped feeling a long time ago”

I'd like to think it was Jaq. She lost her 'pass' and with the disappearance of her friend Kieran, she'd want revenge and to get out of the game completely.

Belfast
Superb story of a struggling family in 69 Northern Ireland. Shot in black and white with excellent period scenery. Van Morrison's greatest hits segues well with every scene. 9/10

The Many Saints Of Newark
A feature length prequel to the magnificent Sopranos series. A young Tony grows up amidst race riots and his family's crime empire. Very disappointing to be honest, no more than a sequence of vignettes of heists and violence. If they'd changed the names of the protagonists then it would have been a reasonable gangster movie but tying it to the original series is a travesty. 3/10

Leave The World Behind
Julia Roberts, Ethan Hawke, Mahershala Ali star in a slow burn thriller where the USA is hit with a devastating cyber attack. Instead of a wide ranging scenario this just focuses on two families and how they come to understand what is happening in creeping degrees as society falls apart.
7/10

Hipgnosis, Squaring The Circle.
Excellent documentary about the Storm and Po partnership who created all those groundbreaking album covers of the late sixties to mid seventies. From grimy backstreet squats to private jets, the rise is rapid. Eventually the excess and the arrival of punk and MTV does for them and they fall. Zeppelin, Floyd, McCartney, Peter Gabriel interviewed and bizarrely Noel Gallagher.
8/10

The Kitchen
Science Fiction meets Urban Grime. 2044 London where all social housing has been eliminated, leaving just the residents of The Kitchen, a community that refuses to abandon their homes. Top Boy Kano Robinson as the taciturn Izi and newcomer Jediah Bannerman as Benji, a young boy drawn into the fight. Excellent cameo from Ian Wright as the tower block DJ. A must see. 9/10
