What's yer verdict?
Obviously their large shows and bombastic image where anathema to us punk rockers
Then again, tunes like Immigrant Song, Rock n Roll, Kashmir are pretty flipping good

Considering they were only ramping up old blues tunes on the first two albums they did get some undeserved renown in my opinion. Svengali manager Peter Grant created a mystique around them, no singles, very few tv appearances, so buy the album and see them live.
By Zeppelin 3, they began to find a sound away from the wailing bombast. And Four Symbols is their pinnacle.
I far prefer Robert Plant's eclectic solo career to most of the bands output. His Raising Sand collaboration with Alison Krauss is one of the most sumptuous Americana albums going.

I had a couple of Led Zep albums but they were all sold off quick time once punk hit the scene. In retrospect, they did have some good songs. Today, the only Led Zep I own is 'Immigrant Song' as a 7 inch single. I reckon the B-side is more interesting. It is also, apparently, the only song Led Zep released that was never included on an LP.

One of the greatest rock bands of all time, with a unique, muscular sound and incredible diversity. Their first four studio albums are peerless, and three of the other four are mostly excellent, with only Presence being disappointing.

I could never grasp the allure of 'Stairway To Heaven', but Rolf made me understand. I can still enjoy it, even if he is a convicted pervert

Not a great fan but bought their first album. The two stand out tracks for me were “Communication breakdown” and “Good times Bad times”Both just over two minutes long. With one or two exceptions i’m not that keen on 6+ minute songs.

IV and Physical Graffiti are superb IMHO. Battle of Evermore is just sublime.

Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple and Led Zep They're all a bit 'meh' for me apart from Zep. They really mastered dynamics, ie, light and shade as in this example, with JPJ riffin hard on the bass
