1972... Slade - Gudbuy T'JaneRemember being at school and we all had to make a hat for some godforsaken reason and I made a Noddy mirror hat. Probably the height of my creativeness. A career in millinery sadly did not await me and it quickly fell to bits.

And, as I said about Mick Tucker, what a drummer.

Dave doing his next book with Unbound More info and pledge if you wanna... unbound.com/books/cum-on-wear-the-noize-dave-hill-superyob-style Cum On Wear The Noize: Dave Hill and Super Yob Style tells the remarkable story of how Dave Hill of Slade, aka the ‘Black Country Beatles,’ helped create a fashion revolution for a generation of working class people in 1970s Britain.
For most people it was a bleak time, with national strikes prompting the government to introduce a state of emergency. But every Thursday night at 7.35 (blackouts permitting), the nation’s teenagers gathered round the TV to be transported to the world of glam on Top of the Pops. Teenagers needed to be in touch with a world where glitter was the norm and you didn’t walk — you stomped. They needed to hear their idols’ new hits, emulate their guitar poses and, most importantly, see what they were wearing.

Yes and no. Some bridges to be built between Dave and Don with the drummer's sacking by email last year. Fantastic that twenty somethings could be singing along to Gudbuy T'Jane etc but also sad that today's youth has nothing of their own to relate to.

Yeah - the Don and Dave rift is a biggie but given they would appreciate the ££££ far more than Nod and Jim who get regular royalties and PRS, means they should be able to bury their differences Do you reckon 20 somthings would love them? As the father of a 18 and 20 year old it seems to me they have plenty of their own musical heroes (and they still dig some of the older stuff too) - but they've not discovered Slade except hearing me play it which hasn't inspired them to dig deeper

Glastonbury doesn't pay that well compared to Download, Leeds and Reading. It's more for the bands kudos that they headline the Pyramid stage on Saturday night. My kids in their early teens loved Slade, the greatest hits CD was one thing we could all agree on during car journeys.
