I remember seeing the album early 76 in Nottingham Selectadisc. I was so taken with the cover, I asked the guy behind the counter to play a track, Break It Up, I think. Bought it there and then. Almost a year before punk broke in the UK and even though Smith and the Group were pretty accomplished musicians, there was no denying the rebel intent of Gloria's opening line: Jesus died for somebody's sins not mine.
As Year Zero approached you'd measure your mate's tastes on whether they got this or not.

Talking of which, this version of Life During Wartime is as life reaffirming as music gets. Watch and marvel... Life During Wartime (Live 1984) I only saw Talking Heads live once, not long after the release of their first album. They were pretty lively, but I don't remember David Byrne doing laps of the stage. How long could they keep that up? Looks impressive but also exhausting

Yep, Patti was a harbinger and that opening "Jesus died..." line is an attention grabber
And Byrne was (indeed still is) a brilliant performer - though less prone to do laps of the stage these days
