I finished a biography of Mao Tse Tung not long ago. It made me think of this:

This week I've been listening to the boxed set of unreleased material by the French band Art Zoyd. They started out playing jazzy progressive rock, then moved towards modern classical music scored for electronics and symphony orchestras, composed to accompany silent films and theatre performances.

Hundreds of albums just arrived in the shop today. Young bloke selling his Dad's collection as he's now in a home. Sad but these will fly out over the coming weeks. It's mainly the 1965 to 1975 years, so your usual Beatles, Stones, Dylan but also stuff I remember staring at when I was a nipper, never having the money to buy but dreaming what delights the cover contained. Matthew's Southern Comfort, Aphrodites Child, Man, Bonzos and Stanshall. All in immaculate condition.
Just been messaged on the Affinity lp on the Vertigo label. Far too rare for a little shop in Scarborough, almost a four figure book price. Looks like I'll be swapping it for a joblot of reggae and dub from a Manchester dealer.

It must be really poignant taking possession of someone's entire record collection
Never heard of Affinity until now...

It must be really poignant taking possession of someone's entire record collection Never heard of Affinity until now... It's people's memories, records that hark back to a time or in an event in their life. It does get slightly difficult in negotiations when dealing with the owner of said records. Far easier when dealing with a third party as there is little emotional connection.
