I love the Affinity LP – one of Vertigo's best. Singer Linda Hoyle's solo album is even rarer, and goes for about £1500. It's not up to much, though – she had no real idea what sort of music she wanted to play, and it hence includes everything from orchestrated ballads to blues/rock. The title track – heavy rock with absolutely insane lead guitar from Chris Spedding – is superb, though.

First heard this as the b side of Stay With Me in 71, thought back then it was a very moving song. And when I eventually found out that it was about Ronnie Lane's Dad and his struggle to raise his family up in a post war bombed out East End... well, it's hard not to shed a tear.
