...Jello's record collection is the stuff of legend. As you can see... he likes to collect some stuff, because it's so ridiculous, e.g. Heino records. I have this compilation that includes Jello's first faltering steps into the world of recording before he moved to San Francisco... and the rest is history. Some great Denver bands i've never heard of before on here. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Had no idea he had form before DKs Don't think it's even mentioned in the DKs book

That's a top jumper Jello has on that clip.
Other cool jumper wearers in punk were Pete Shelley and Fergal Sharkeyđđ

Watched this last night most entertaining Thanks for that, Stu. Very entertaining indeed. Jello used to do reviews of really obscure Australian singles in Maximum Rock n Roll in the 1980s. Very diverse taste

I'm a bit of a jumper man myself but Val is probably a step too far.
Jello has always looked good.
A true one off.

Didn't Mods wear cool jumpers back in the day?
I'm not a rock'n'roll type of guy but I'd start worrying if I was wearing tank tops on a regular basis.đđ¤

I was not aware of this release from 1981. It featured Jello Biafra and Adrian Borland of the Sound and the Outsiders. And an ex Mott the Hoople member.

...it was a one off project recorded in the UK. Jello's done many different collaborations over the years.
This was credited as Dead Kennedys recording, but as you can hear, it's a brilliant piece of very dark political satire from Jello...

Brilliant - thanks Yeah, working now
The first time I heard The Witch Trialsâa drunken, improvised four song EP recorded by Jello Biafra, Christian Lunch, Adrian Borland (vocalist of The Sound), Morgan Fisher (of Mott the Hoople) and Dead Kennedysâ guitarist East Bay Ray in Fisherâs Notting Hill Gate apartment in October of 1980âthe person who played it for me bragged that it was âthe most evil record Iâve ever heard.â (Of course, this piqued my interest immediately.) A few years later, I was looking through a girlfriendâs record collection and she said the same thing, that it was the most evil thing that sheâd ever heard. Doing a Google search just now I see that in a 1985 issue of SPIN magazine that reviewer John Trubee quotes Biafra himself describing it as âThe most evil record Iâve ever been associated with.â Iâd have to say that I agree with all of them: Itâs a pretty evil sounding thing, right up there with the Virgin Prunes or Nina Hagenâs Nunsexmonkrock. And this, of course, is a very good thing.
The somewhat anonymous (to the extent that Biafraâs voice could ever be described as anonymous) EP was released first in France and after that by Alternative Tentacles in the US (another clue). Only Morgan Fisher (who mixed it) gets a credit (tiny and on the label) the rest of the group deliberately stayed in the shadows. The lyrical topics include toxic environments, genetic mutation, post-apocalyptic survivors, rape from the perpâs POV and various other bits of dystopian mayhem and madness. The music sounds alternately like the Residents, Public Image Ltd., Chrome or (especially) Throbbing Gristle. If youâve ever wondered what TG would sound like with Jello Biafra on vocalsâand naturally who amongst us hasnâtâhereâs your answer.
Biafra did the cover art and hand lettering. The back cover reads: âThe elephant man poses nude in our centerfold. You poisoned our parents but forgot about birth controlâ). The four songs on The Witch Trials are dark and perverseâand yes, it does sound a bit like a particularly inspired jam session, obviously improvisedâbut I still pull this one out every few years and listen to it LOUD. Although itâs different from everything else in his discography, itâs still of a piece with the rest of Jello Biafraâs work.
Vinyl copies are seldom cheap, but The Witch Trials has been re-released on CD by Alternative Tentacles.

I've noticed over the last year, on YouTube there are many people hosting 'Listening Posts' where they take requests to play a piece of music they have not heard before, by a band they know little about and discuss it.
This guy is one of the more insightful and open minded, of the ones i have seen...

Wow, that really struck a chord with him, looks like he had to have a moment to compose himself after listening to that. Great link Andy, cheers.
