...another review of this remix of FFFRV that doesn't actually tell you if they think it improves on the original

I'm oblivious to these 'remixes' Andy. In some ways that initial period of listening to music, as well as being intuitive, is irreplaceable.
It's the sound of punk👍

I've had a good listen to the Fresh Fruit 2022 remix - yes, there are sonic improvements and yes, it sounds a lot more like a modern day production.
Does it sound better? That's subjective.
I bought it back in 1980, that's a long time to be listening to, and to become used to an album. I'm gonna stick with the original.

EAST BAY RAY AND THE KILLER SMILES RAISING THE STAKES Lp Every since i first heard John Peel playing 'California Über Alles' way back in 1979 in my teens, i have always LOVED East Bay Ray's 'Echoplexed' guitarwork, which was the perfect foil for Jello Biafra's unique vibrato vocals and dark satirical lyrics. This album was first released on CD only, in 2011 and now is available on vinyl too on a different label with new (and better) sleeve artwork. It's a good mixture of Power Pop, Punk and Duane Eddie-eque haunting ballads. Whilst i have no interest in seeing the current Dead Kennedys just cranking out songs from four decades ago, i'd LOVE to see this band!!

The Alex Ogg biography on the early years has just come in and I'm giving it a go before it goes out on the shelves. It's a great read interspersed with comic strips, the Winston Smith graphics, lyrics and band shots. But, as Alex points out in the introduction, it is a story of contradictions and a true narrative is like balancing on a razor blade. Jello and East Bay Ray disagree on nearly all the history of the band. If one likes something, the other doesn't.
Biafra more than edges it for me though, he is the intellectual driving force. Not sure what they would have been without him, not the Dead Kennedys of course, that moniker was all his own work.

...an articulate evaluation of their history, legacy and influence. Kinda ironic that he has to slip in an ad about grooming yer nutsack before launching into it though Oh, how times have changed. But i guess that is the nature of hosting a DIY video channel these days
