He was great on the 'Join Hands' tour playing with the support and the headline. Still a teenager IIRC

Sort of band that as they 'progressed' I lost interest. Much prefer their original trio lineup with that sparse sound. This would have made my top thirty.

Really like the first two albums... and the odd single beyond that, but Mr Smith's razor sharp dry wit here is a joy to behold...

Yeah, I'm with PU on the 'sparse sound' of their early work. I bought Killing An Arab on a school trip to the lake district The first couple of Peel sessions are great too -

Do we have a The Cure thread already? ...if not i think we should. I don't have many albums... just the first three, but love some their songs beyond that era.
Just found this great footage of them playing live on Dutch TV in 1980, when they were a trio again, briefly.

Do we have a The Cure thread already? ...if not i think we should Here ya go Andy I love The Cure - first came across them when they were doing a four week Sunday night residency at the Marquee which, I'm pretty sure, was before Three Imaginary Boys came out The rest is history A friend's son was in a group with Robert Smith's nephew - turns out Mr Smith is a very generous and kind person who arranged coaches for friends and family to attend gigs in London, and was v supportive with his nephew's musical efforts

Thanks Nigey... i thought there must surely be a Cure thread on here already - i have been dipping into Faith just recently, such a great record. I see this made your Top 10... i bet this has been used in a film soundtrack somewhere...
