Most of my Horace Andy collection is comps but this, Andy's 1977 album, is not It's great, a triumph of roots reggae

Queen debut album.
Finally got round to seeing the Bohemian Rhapsody movie, not a bad watch and the first half hour on how they pay their dues in little clubs, broken down vans is the tale of every band. Never a big fan, they lost me at Night at the Opera and something called punk was just around the corner.
But the first album rocks. May's guitar blasts out riff after riff, Taylor and Deacon build solid foundations and Mercury's voice is phenomenal. The latter explained in the movie by him having four more teeth than average, allowing him to suck in breath and hold notes for longer. Anyhoo, standout must be Liar, Taylor intro, combined vocals, gives Zepp and others a run for their money.

I should give that a try I quite like early Queen and few of their singles but generally they just annoyed me

Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Welcome To The Pleasure Dome
A regular seller this, a double album with all the hit singles, albeit slightly different versions. One disc too long to be honest, they murder Springsteen's Born to Run and there's a pointless Ferry Across The Mersey to contend with. Comes with all the inner sleeves and the Frankie merchandise sheet, Relax t shirts etc. A historical curio certainly but as an audible listen, doubtful.

I really liked FGTH at the time & you're spot on PU. The album is far too long. A single vinyl album would have been perfect. A bit like Sandinista.

A new thread (and a new section) where you are invited to share your "album of the day" Could be something you've never heard Could be an old favourite Could be obscure Could be mainstream You get the idea So, an album you've played this very day What is it? What do you make of it? To what extent would you recommend it? 'Valley of the Dolls' by Gen X always puts me in a positive mood

Clint Eastwood & General Saint - Two Bad DJ
After some of the classic socially conscious reggae of the seventies, the eighties saw a little change in the genre and DJ toasting began to dominate. A lot of it left me cold especially the sexual boasting of Yellowman. However, this duo got together and put out a couple of great albums, tracks in turn both humourous and politically aware. Managed to see them at an absolutely packed Nottingham Palais in 82, marvellous night.

Wow. Not heard that for eons. Nice choice PU
Used to have it on vinyl and, as you say, it's a cut above much of the genre
