Inspired by PU, I shall be blasting this beaut out this morning.... Live albums and reggae are uneasy bedfellows but Burning Spear Live is one of a handful of truly great live Roots albums The intensity of this 1977 concert recording doesn't wane from start to finish
Right up there with the Wailers live and Misty In Roots at the Counter Eurovision

Great album M'Lord. If you didn't know already, there's a young Brinsley Forde on guitar on there.

Another Clint/Saint classic...
Another One Bites The Dust I had a fair few 12"s by toasters in the early 80's. Highlights included U Roy (a pioneer of the style), Toyan, Eek-a-Mouse and Lone Ranger

Catapult The Dead - All Is Sorrow
Running a shop, I try to keep on top of all genres but some are just beyond my comprehension. This album is a good example, is it good? is it bad? I will get a couple of moshers in poring over it and eventually pocket the cash they've bought it with. Am I a fraud? Listen to the link above and if you can make it halfway through you're a better man than I.

Yes. Confusing. That form of metal, where the vocalists sound like they're giving themselves an instant sore throat, totally confounds me. Take away the vocals though, and Catapult sound curiously melodic in sections.
All is Sorrow, indeed

Mark Hollis - Mark Hollis (1998)
RIP Mark Hollis
His debut solo album is really just a continuation of Talk Talk's later albums, and their ambienty/jazzy vibe, which is, as you know, a very good thing
Shame he never made any more music

Rikki and the last Days of Earth - Four Minute Warning
A band that were derided by the music press back then, third division Ultravox! is one quote I remember. Also didn't help that one of the band had been to Eton. However, despite the dystopian clunky lyrics, the album has its moments. Never reissued on CD, so I'm hoping this original copy plays through and the memories come flooding back.

Rikki and the last Days of Earth - Four Minute Warning You were guaranteed to find their single in the marked-down box of every record shop in the country, as I recall.

I've become quite preoccupied with Miles Hunt (The Wonder Stuff) since my post a few days ago I've been doing a bit of deep dive into the last 20 years Today I'm gonna be copping an ear to....
Miles and Erica - Live 2010/11
The Wonder Stuff continue to write, record & play live to this day, during the breaks Miles tours acoustically with Erica Nockalls, the group's violinist
Gotta say the violin/acoustic guitar combo - aligned to Miles great songs is a winner
