Mott The Hoople - The Hoople
Picked up a pretty standard mid seventies vinyl collection yesterday. Usual suspects, Rod, Elton, Joan Armatrading etc. But there at the back was this beauty. After Young Dudes, Hunter realised that he could also write in a similar vein to Bowie and the output manifested itself in this album. Packed with classics, Marionette, Pearl and Roy, Through the Looking Glass plus two big hits Golden Age of Rock'n'roll and Roll Away The Stone. This track though is probably my favourite, proto punk meets heavy glam and the Dale Griffin machine gun drumming is phenomenal.

I'm playing Andy's top tip... Prehistoric Sounds The third album by The Saints, released in 1978 The brass aligned to their sound works really well but I can see why it might have struggled to find an audience in 1978 It's great though

Slade - Sladest
This came in yesterday, lovely condition for nearly a fifty year old album. Most of the hits on it but this is the one that always blows me away. Originally a movie tune for fictional band Max Frost and the Troopers but the Wolverhampton lads stamp their boots all over it. Fortunately there were no customers in as the stylus reached this track, so I cranked it up and made the windows rattle.
