Thanks PU - sounds good, esp the Ultras thing I recently watched American Vandal - both seasons - I'm loathe to recommend it because I don't know how much it might appeal to others but I thought it was genuinely quite funny I've just started watching Jack Whitehall and his Dad in America - Travels With My Dad (?) Again, not a recommendation but it has already made me laugh - so it might do the same for you First season of AV was quite good, second season wasn’t particularly good. Still worth a watch while under lockdown!

I've nearly finished episode one of Sunderland Til I Die
Great stuff
Some of it is pure David Brent
Sadly there's not going to be a Season Three
Enjoy it whilst it lasts

Code 8
Surprisingly good Canadian sci fi actioner about 'powered' abilities people struggling to make a living in a society that has rejected them. Concentrates more on their plight than whizz bang special effects.

Thanks PU I recently watched Contagion (2011) dir by Steven Soderbergh Given Covid 19 it all feels quite prescient as it's about the spread of a virus transmitted by respiratory droplets and fomites. Medical researchers and public health officials try to identify and contain the disease as social order starts to break down The good stuffThe sickly colour palette The score The lingering shots on surfaces which have been touched The film’s stars being unsentimentally killed Impeccably put together Slickly done The less goodFar too episodic to hold the interest (The only really lively narrative thread is provided by Jude Law as a conspiracy nut with a heart of greed promoting a homeopathic cure for the virus - though not sure about his performance) Little actual drama - despite the score doing its best to keep things tense Marion Cotillard’s kidnapped WHO official just disappears for most of the second half of the film Gwyneth Paltrow and Matt Damon - a more mismatched couple it’s hard to imagine The all star cast was a bit distracting and it might have worked better with unknowns and a more documentary style No one gets enough screen time to have any real impact Ultimately it’s completely uninvolving In a word - confused Disappointing given Steven Soderbergh’s pedigree 4/10

I thought that Contagion was a bit overloaded with A listers, I'll give that a miss. A shout out again though for the exceptional Spanish series Money Heist. Eleven episodes in and I'm absolutely hooked. Possibly better than Breaking Bad.

Thanks PU I'll check out Money Heist based on your ringing endorsement - including your suggestion that it's better than Breaking Bad, which is quite a claim

Just for the fact that there is no principal character and, therefore, it's not a matter of how will they get out of a particular situation but will they get out of it. Watch it with the Spanish language and English subtitles, the dubbed version is poor and sometimes out of sync.

I watched the first 10 minutes to get a flavour and had already switched the language. As you suggest the dubbing is very distracting. I always prefer to have the original language + subtitles anyway

I'm now onto episode three of Money Heist and it is indeed very enjoyable if you don't scrutinise some of the plot points to rigorously. Slick, exciting, cartoony and undemanding. Thanks PU - top tip.
I'm not sure it bears any comparison with Breaking Bad though which (along with Better Call Saul) is far more complex and multilayered, and with serious characterisation

Yes, it is more 'cartoony' but unlike any other series I've watched (Sopranos, BB, Peaky Blinders), the female characters are playing leading roles. Plots revolve around them rather than them being family support roles. If you can stay with it to the Ciao Bella episode, you'll be hooked.

Still watching and still enjoying Money Heist
I've just started episode five
Not sure how much longer til I hit the Ciao Bella episode
I am frequently troubled by its total implausibility though
That said it is mindless fare and so a nice escape from lockdown life

Extraction Chris Hemsworth as special forces mercenary rescuing child hostage between warring drug lords. So derivative, I only managed thirty minutes.

Time To Hunt
Collapsed South Korean economy leaves three disillusioned teens wanting more. Robbing a gambling hall is one thing, getting away with it is another. Atmospheric, tense thriller.
