...it's ideal for anyone that likes 999 but is not a fanatic - the only album they left tracks off, from on this Boxset, is 13th Floor Madness, which is generally regarded as the worst record they ever made... and not just by the fans either.

As there are so many tracks to choose from over 4 decades, there are plenty of 'omissions' - when 999 were signed to United Artists, i don't think they released a single weak song... even the B-sides weren't wasted.
Interesting on this new comp they included this though, when they were signed to Polydor, written by their original Bass player Jon Watson...

Great looking comp, ideal for the car stereo. I've put a disclaimer sticker on 13th Floor Madness which is still languishing in the racks '999 Completist's Only'.

...it didn't sell very well (no surprise) and as a result Albion Records dropped them. But they remained popular as a live band here in the UK, Europe and the U.S.
They released a self financed album in 1985 called 'Face To Face' which despite it's rather basic and flat production has some fine songs on it...

...yes indeed. For years i had a really bad incomplete clip of this on a bootleg video that looked like it had been recorded in a mucky washing up bowl - Great that someone has a pristine tape of this. The Undertones, Dexys, The Chords, The Beat, The Police and BowWowWow were also featured over different series.
I think The Adicts even went on 'Cheggers' too, but had to change their name to The Fun Addicts or something equally daft.

I have probably posted this on here before... but here is some footage from the Junction in Bristol 2008 when 999 played a storming set. As they started playing 'Homicide' Arturo was trying to get people on stage to sing with them but no one would budge ...as i've known him since the 80s he kept pointing at me to do it. At first i thought no way! ...but then thought, oh f**k it why not! so i got up there took a deep breath and sang the whole song with Nick. I love the moment where Guy Days looks round at me!
