It's something of a well worn cliché, to say there was alot of 'Love In The Room' for 999 in Bristol last saturday... but the fact is, it was true. People really do LOVE that band... myself included, They were simply STUNNING at the Louisiana, just so damn tight, having fun, entertaining the crowd and right on the money. It blows my tiny mind to think i have been given the chance to play gigs with them for well over the last decade. View AttachmentThanks Andy So glad that it was a good night They're coming to Hastings in Jan 2024 I'm probably going to make the trek over

I found a second-hand copy of 'Separates' on CD out in the wild yesterday...this begins my 999 collection.

It's a flip of the coin, which is the best 999 album... their debut or Separates. I don't that they released a bad song, their whole time on United Artists. And their later albums are well worth dipping into too. I hope your CD of Separates has bonus tracks... like this little gem!

Hard to imagine it offers anything much that the final versions don't provide but who knows?
I look forward to Andy's more informed reply

OUTBURST was originally released on CD by Overground in 2003. It's a patchwork of demo recordings of early versions of songs that would end up on the first three 999 albums and singles, plus a couple of songs that were never fully completed and released.
Some songs are pretty much a 'Work In Progress' with Nick Cash improvising/free forming lyrics with mixed results... good and bad. If you are a 999 fanatic/complete-ist, it's a fascinating glimpse into their ideas at that time in the bands long history, but not a good introduction if you have not heard them before

Ta Andy. Some Overground retrospectives have been alright before, Satan's Rats, Maniacs etc. 999 are playing here end of March, so I'll take a punt on a couple of Outburst.

Over the decades, the archive of tapes has been plundered for demos and live performances. Overground also released a CD of two gigs called ENGLISH WIPEOUT
Leicester University 02/02/1980 and Manchester, Electric Circus 28/08/1977 The Leicester recording is the best of the two

I think the Manchester one may have been cancelled as someone in charge or involved with the venue recently died. On the official site there's a line through the gig.

Yes... that is March. Check out their last album (Bish! Bash! Bosh!) if you have not already done so. This is rather Pop-Tastic...

Live DVD / CD Filmed and recorded at The Craufurd Arms, Milton Keynes on 12th Jan, 2024.
Rip it up! 999 Live at the Craufurd Arms is 999 at their very best, playing in front of a ‘Live’ audience.
