...Cheers for that Stu, a really good interview. I think he's spot on about the whole 'celebrity drug' how artists get addicted to it, how it warps their ego's. If you watch the interview Lydon did with Janet Street Porter in 1978 when PiL was still in the early birthing stages and then you cut to the car crash press conference Nick talks about, where Lydon is drunk, won't let anybody else talk, is patronising and gets a roasting from Marky Ramone... you see how much damage has been done.
Nick is clearly more a fan of a Morrissey than he ever was of the Pistols or PiL but i think the 'bike chain incident' may still hurt all these years later.

Lydon would never pass up an opportunity to slap his own gums regardless of who died. Henry Rollins was a too passive for me surprisingly. They should have had Biafra, Ian MacKaye or Rimbaud on it to put this drunken balloon in his place as what could and should have been an interesting discussion was ruined by this blabbermouth. |
