Anyone remember "Ace Of Wands"? Abso-flippin-lutely Loved it And love the Andy Bown theme I've got the DVD of the series - sadly the earlier episodes are lost to us but the ones that survive are still pretty good

...because i am SUCH a nerd, i happen to know that's a re-recording of the original theme. When it comes to carefree School Holidays, one has to also consider the ' Programmes For Horsey Girls' too...

All those tunes / TV themes are absolute gems and, like PU, fill me with a warm glow of nostalgia In a similar vein (and with lyrics below).. The Lightning Tree - Follyfoot TV Theme (1973)
Down in the meadow where the wind blows free, in the middle of a field stands a lightning tree. It's limbs all torn from the day it was born for the tree was born in a thunderstorm.
CHORUS:
Grow, grow, the lightning tree, it's never too late for you and me;
Grow, grow, the lightning tree, never give in too easily.
Down in the meadow where the wind blows light, the lightning struck in the middle of the night.
Limbs stripped bare by the lightning flare the lightning flare was a wild affair.
CHORUS
Down in the meadow where the wind blows cold, the lightning tree stands stiff and old.
Branches bent when the lightning rent the lightning rent from the firmament.
CHORUS
Down in the meadow with the wind in the west, the lightning tree faced up to the test.
Its heart went snap when it took the rap, the terrible rap of the thunder clap.
CHORUS
Down in the meadow when the wind blows free, a whispering breeze in the lightning tree.
Dreams come true if you want them to if you want them to, then it's up to you.
CHORUS (2X)

Then a punk comes along and ruins it.... Not really ruins but it's a different take for sure.

...i am sure it will come as no surprise when i tell you Underground Overground Wombling Glam Timmy Purr has FollyFoot on an entire Box set and tries (and fails) to get me to watch it. (I think he watches it, mostly because in his typical Cosmo Smallpiece way, he fancies Gillian Blake, which is fair enough really)
However we are currently dipping into series one of The Brothers... remember that?

I do indeed remember The Brothers. Pretty darned popular when it was on the telly. My Mum was a big fan. For some reason your reference to it reminded me of Rich Man Poor Man
Anyway back to a top theme - here's The Sweeney (I marginally prefer the version for the closing credits which is a more maudlin version). Both are here...

Admins please rename this thread '70's TV Theme Tunes' to reflect the content being shared in it I'm hoping to steer it back to easy listening and library music, there is a lot of crossover, and a lot of TV themes were taken from albums of library music but... ...your wish etc etc

I think the thing is, most of us heard music that could be called 'Easy Listening' via themes to TV shows but steering away from that - here is, what i sometimes consider to be the greatest song of all time... just stunning...

No argument from Andy - a bona fide classic
His (well Jimmy Webb's) Galveston always brings a little lump to my throat and a tear to my eye...
Glen Campbell - Galveston
Jimmy Webb wrote.... Galveston, By the Time I Get to Phoenix and Wichita Lineman
Plus MacArthur Park, which was a hit for both Richard Harris and Donna Summer, and Up-Up and Away, which was recorded by The 5th Dimension
Jimmy Webb was on a beach in Galveston, Texas when he wrote this Glen Campbell hit. He made up the story about a soldier in the Spanish-American war and the girl he left behind in Galveston.

Sometimes I'll do a house clearance and there'll be a Glen Campbell greatest hits tucked away amongst the Carpenters and Richard Clayderman. And even though it will end up in the bargain bin,it has to get a full play, full volume test. One of his lesser known hits which floors me. Another Jimmy Webb composition apparently written about one of Linda Ronstadt's relations.

hmmmmm ...that's nice PU, not heard that before.
Over the last 10 years, i have been getting into some of the albums of Georgie Fame. This is blatantly 'easy listening' but i think it is rather classie...

Yes indeed PU, 'Where's The Playground, Susie?' is another JW/GC winner
I'd never heard Georgie's 'Peaceful' Andy - great cover art too
I've only got a couple of Georgie Fame compiliations. Maybe I need to dig a bit deeper?
