No argument from Andy - a bona fide classic His (well Jimmy Webb's) Galveston always brings a little lump to my throat and a tear to my eye... Glen Campbell - GalvestonJimmy Webb wrote.... Galveston, By the Time I Get to Phoenix and Wichita Lineman Plus MacArthur Park, which was a hit for both Richard Harris and Donna Summer, and Up-Up and Away, which was recorded by The 5th Dimension Jimmy Webb was on a beach in Galveston, Texas when he wrote this Glen Campbell hit. He made up the story about a soldier in the Spanish-American war and the girl he left behind in Galveston. I took my mum to see him play on his farewell tour. He was showing signs of Alzheimer's, but his singing and playing were flawless. He could really shred on the guitar

...FANTASTIC - he'd clearly lost none of what he had from his ' Wrecking Crew' days!

Anyone come across Basil Kirchin?
He recorded copiously for library music label Music De Wolfe
Basil began his career conventionally enough, in the late 1940s, as a drummer in London palais bands
Ten years later, on the rebound from a broken relationship, he took to the road in India and America
By the early 1960s, back in London, his approach to music had been transformed
Grooves and motor rhythms continued to be important, but were woven into impressionistic, multi-layered scores. He got increasingly interested in electronic music
Here's the entire Don't Lose Your Cool album from 1967..

Anyone come across Basil Kirchin? Some of his more esoteric recordings have been reissued by (the always interesting) Trunk Records... trunkrecords.greedbag.com/basil-kirchin/This sampler can be downloaded for £7.50 - vinyl sadly out of stock

I stumbled across this clip and thought about this thread
It's a rather splendid Zack Laurence Orchestra piece called Stiletto which accompanies a compilation of Professionals action scenes...

No groovy visual accompaniment sadly but the wonderfully named Drug Song from 1975 by Janko Nilovic surely warrants some suitable visuals....

I think i may have posted this before on the original TalkPunk site. This is a wonderful TV theme from Pierre Cavalli i tracked down on vinyl about 15 years ago. I have never seen the programme, but LOVE the theme music...

...it's been blogged alot, so... yeah ...demand has put up the price - some one should repress it for Record Store Day, perhaps. My copy cost about a third of that current discogs price.
The B-Side is an absolute Belting Banger too...

A lot more manic energy than much library music

Pierre Cavalli was a Swiss Jazz guitarist who has been making records since the early 50s - i have dipped into his large back catalogue, only lighty
This is another 7" single i have by him... it's well groooovie, with a nod to Joe Meek too, i reckon...

Another splendid tune. I love his energy and that's a heck of a look he's got going on the cover of Movin' On
