It gets so cold in my kitchen that my fridge stops working properly.

One of the coldest nights of the year so far.
Bloody freezing at 7am but with a freezing fog just as the Sun was trying to eek itself out over the horizon, it was an amazing haze.
Truely spectacular. 👍What an amazing planet we live on. Just a pity that it's infested by a lot of ignorant, greedy bastards who don't appreciate it.😕

Warming up at the weekend. From flipping freezing 🥶 to just regular cold
Buying a second pair of thermal leggings later so I can wash the ones I’ve been wearing for the last week ❄️🤠
A quick 50+ press ups warns me up for a while
Been wearing hats and gloves in the house all week. Sort of getting used to sub zero temperature now 🎅

In the house?
Fuck dat. I just pap the heating on. I reckon that even if you wear extra clothes it's still cold because the environment is cold. Not a very pleasant atmosphere.
You're right about exercise. I've been doing an hour on an exercise bike for an hour every night as it's too treacherous on the roads just now.

The heating is pretty ineffectual plus the windows are draughty - always been like it. Poorly insulated old property. If I turn the heating on it will go up maybe 2-3 degrees but as soon as it's off it plummets again. Given the cost of gas I'm not turning it on much as it's so expensive. Lots of people I know in similar situation.

Get an old bucket or waste paper bin preferably made of tin or aluminium, get a bit of plywood and drill a small hole in it, put this on top of the bin and then light a medium sized candle in it and bobs your uncle a wee cheap heater.
You'll be surprised how warm it is.

My shop is reading 5 degrees when I get there in the morning, heaters up to 11 but it's only keeping the chill a bay a little. Getting to think I'm throwing money away on electric at the moment as Scarborough is deserted, been open nearly four hours and only done two sales. Milder next week, just in time for the Christmas rush.

I've heard about the candle trick - part of the issue here is the high Edwardian ceilings. All the residents have the same issue. I'll give it a go though

I've tried it and it works.👍
A lot of Glasgow Tenements have high ceilings so you probably need a bigger bin...

During this awful weather be a good neighbour and check on the elderly on your street. I went a few doors down to an old lady and asked her if she wanted anything from the shops. She said yes, so I gave her my grocery list. No point in both of us making the same journey in these conditions.

North Yorkshire was hit by the heaviest snow for years. Both incoming A roads were impassable, Whitby was cut off completely. No buses running today so absolutely pointless opening the shop. A big thaw forecast over the weekend so the final week before Christmas should be very busy.

Glasgow has been lashed with ferocious rain and winds since Boxing Day.
Mrs RP is down with the flu and me and a couple of mates were out for a few pints earlier.(and still are!)One of the pubs visited is Tennants on Byres Rd which is a pub LE used to frequent.😃
Hadn't changed much in 30 years. Still blawing a gale outside however.🤔
